Fine Talk from a Toreador

Arabella headed into the lounge, Vincent sat on the couch his favourite retainer at his side. The castle was one of the few places the vampires could truly be themselves. From the outside it seemed perfectly normal but once inside it was a totally different world, the vampires showing their nature openly amongst their human followers.

“Your young lord, sent a messenger” Vincent informed her.

“Ooh I knew he would” she squealed, excitedly causing a raised an eyebrow.

“Don’t mess with him Arabella, it isn’t fair” Vincent warned, “he’s a man with a wife”

“Men are cad’s” Arabella retorted “He didn’t do anything he didn’t want too”

Vincent frowned “You mean, nothing you didn’t encourage”

“Ha that’s fine talk coming from a Toreador” she exclaimed.

“I only do what I have to.. You down right manipulated that boy”

“I did not!” she scowled “I encouraged perhaps, but regardless he was in full control of his facilities” she replied, insulted “I’m not like you, I can’t turn people into zombies and make them do things they don’t want to do”

“But you can make them want to do things they normally wouldn’t”

“Pah, your twisting things” she sulked. “I merely encouraged him to see me in a more favourable light”

“So at no point he tried to leave?”

“You where spying on me” she scowled “how dare you!”

“I didn’t spy on anyone” Vincent mused, “You give yourself away. So what happened he tried to leave and you didn’t let him?”

“No he managed to leave and I summoned him back” she admitted.

“Do you never wonder what it might be like to have a man like you for you? Rather than because you made him?”

“What’s the difference?” she asked.

“Trust me there’s a difference” Vincent replied. “Perhaps you should try it, when you go and see him tonight why don’t you try and get though an entire evening without using your presence”

“Why would I do that?”

“Don’t you remember what it was like when you where human? Having a man want you?”

“Of course I do” she replied “I don’t see how it’s any different, men wanted me all the time”

“I don’t mean ‘that’ sort of want, Arabella have you never been in love?”

“No I can’t say that I have, rather a useless emotion that causes nothing but pain when men prove as they always do, to be cads”

Vincent chuckled “Oh dear .. where you this jaded before you where turned”

“I dare say I was” she growled.

“Then I understand why you where chosen, Your clan really does need to lighten up”

Arabella huffed and rolled her eye’s “I need to get ready.. I should feed before I go, I was cold yesterday im sure he noticed it”

“Yes they do notice the change in body temperature when were hungry, you might want to work on the food thing as well, you should regurgitated it after you’ve left his company next time”

“I couldn’t help it” she scowled.

“Practice dear, Practice”

One response to “Fine Talk from a Toreador

  1. I can understand why she’s so jaded, since she was trained from childhood to be a courtesan. Her whole profession is built on the fact that some men are cads. And of course the men who aren’t cads don’t pay for her services. So she only meets men who are cads, and … yeah. Vicious cycle.

Still, I give Chris props for leaving, or at least trying to leave. Even if Arabella didn’t let him in the end.

I wonder what would happen if she went through the evening without using her presence. Maybe Chris would come to his senses? Or maybe it’s too late for that.
