Vison of Beauty
He saw her for the first time across the room at the Beaumont/ Hamdun wedding; she was beautiful, just looking at her made him go weak at the knee. Lynette Beaumont she looked so sad sitting alone playing with the fringe of her dress.

Downing his drink Orrick weaved though the crowd towards where she sat, he only got halfway before his courage had fled and he found himself back at the drinks table pouring himself another.
He made several more attempts to approach her as the night wore on each time he failed to reach her. He almost fell off his seat when Drysten Beaumont sat down beside him and said “ I’ve been watching you admiring my sister and I was wondering are you betrothed? Because I’m looking to find her a husband”
“Yes” he stammered “ I mean no….. Yes I was admiring she is very beautiful and no I am not betrothed” Orrick kicked himself why was he so nervous when it came to women, give him a room full of councilmen and he was fine, one pretty woman and he always went to pieces.
“Ah good why don’t you come to dinner at our house tomorrow then and we’ll get you too acquainted” Drysten knew the Vaux Family from the homeland and from his casual meetings with Orrick during the journey over from the old kingdom he knew the lad to be of good breeding and a gentle manner, a fine husband for his baby sister.
Over the next few months Orrick visited Lynette often. To him she was the most wonderful creature he had ever met, she was elegant and beautiful and she had such a grace about her and the thought of marrying her made his heart jump. However Lynette did not feel the same way for Orrick, he was several years younger than she and in her mind was barely an adult.
She had always dreamed of marrying a prince or a knight someone strong and commanding, someone who would sweep her off her feet. Orrick was quite the opposite he was Shy and awkward he followed her around like a lost little puppy, definitely not the man she’d hoped for nor a man she could ever love. Still her brother insisted that it was a good match, and that Orrick would treat her well. So with a heavy heart the wedding went ahead.
